WHAT SHOULD I DO????
So i have a 1985 trans am. I just recently broke my 700r4 shifter cable. I have been doing a lot of digging up on old treads reading about the crappy quality of the aftermarket cheapo's and i am wondering if i should go with either a B&M shifter cable or a used gm one. i can buy one from hawks third gen or i can go to my local race shop to get the B&M one. My BIGGGGGG concern here is that i have now swapped out this pioneer shifter cable at autozone three times because no matter how i install it (which there is only one way) or no matter HOW I ADJUST IT!!!! it DOES NOT WANT TO GO INTO PARK ALL THE WAYYYY!!!! its majorly upsetting that i have spent four hours trying to adjust this cable and it still wont go into park its like i am missing a whole gear. and please no one say it is a problem with the tranny because i can easily shift it manually under the car and i never had this problem until the cable broke. any input would be appreciated.

P.S. DO YOU GUYS THINK IT IS NOT GOING INTO PARK FULLY BECAUSE I HAVE THIS JANK PIONEER CABLE ON???? I MEAN I HAVE THROUGHLY INSPECTED EVERYTHING ...

Re: WHAT SHOULD I DO????
Don't know why, but I've found the aftermarket replacement cables don't quite allow the full travel from park to 1st, whereas my broken sloppy (but not snapped) OEM cable did.
I can choose to have full park engagement with marginal 1st, or vice-versa. I choose the full park adjustment because it's the more necessary. This may be correctable with more research and experimentation, but full park alone is good enough for me.
Also is the new cable clipping into the tranny bracket correctly? Mine wouldn't go in completely all the way and seat firmly, and wouldn't quite allow full engagement of park. Required some massaging of the bracket.

Re: WHAT SHOULD I DO????
it does go into the bracket very tightly which is peace of mind but no matter how i adjust it there is no park. and if somehow i do magically get park i have to try very hard to achieve it but shifting from low one all the way up into park very hard and fast. but would you recommend a B&M aftermarket shifter cable or a used oem???
