10 bolt 3.73 rear

So I'm doing a 350 swap and looking to beef up the rear. Currently, it's a stock 10 bolt. I came across a pretty good deal on here for a 10 bolt, but it has the 28 spline axle with a Torsen diff. I figure I might as well go for it, because I have drums and this also has discs. In the grand scheme of things, it'll be cheaper to buy this rear complete than mod the one I have, especially because I'm told it only has 2000 miles on it since being built.

But, during the course of my switch, I'm removing whatever the stock tranny is, because it shifts poorly between 2nd and 3rd especially, and probably putting in a turbo 350 or 400. I don't do a whole lot of highway driving, as this is a weekend warrior, but I'm concerned the 3.73's may be too short for a no overdrive tranny.

Any thoughts?

Overdrive is the way to go on a car thats gets cruised around. Taking a long trip without overdrive sucks.

I've broken more than my share of 700R-4s, and several 200-4Rs, but even so I'll never go back to a TH350. And I'd rather learn a 4L80E than resort to a TH400. And while the 4L80E is strong, the ratios need changed, but the aftermarket does offer low-ratio gear sets for the 80E.
