Aftermarket Trans Cooler Recommendations & Questions
The built-in trans cooler line is stripped, it's going to be way cheaper and easier for me to add an aftermarket one.
I've been doing some research, other than making sure to get the more efficient plate & tube design, are there any other features or specific brands to look for? They all seem similar in what they offer, and all appear to use hose connections.
Also, for the hose connections, how do you connect them to the stock lines coming from the transmission? Do I need some sort of special adapter, just cut the nut off, etc.? Thanks.

Re: Aftermarket Trans Cooler Recommendations & Questions
on mine,i used -6 SS braided line the whole way-my cooler was salvaged from an early '90s ford explorer, but I drilled and retapped the ford fittings for 1/4"pipe thread as I couldn't find suitable adaptors for -6.My cooler is underhood with it's own fan.The ford cooler is a high density stacked plate design with corrugated fins between the plates.

How did you connect the braided hose to the car? I assume by "the whole way", you mean directly from the transmission to the cooler? I'm hoping to go from the end of the hard line (by the radiator) to the cooler; that way, if I ever get my radiator fixed or replaced, I can use the lines again.

on the transmission end I took out the brass fittings for the original hard line and installed the AN fittings-iirc those were 1/4"pipe thead also.Years back, with my '69 Camaro,i just stuck some hose over the flared end of the original steel lines and clamped them good.
