T56 won't go into gear.

I just bought a lakewood bellhousing 15020. It has a 11" hays clutch. I installed everything and my clutch won't disengage. I used a non adjustable pivot ball but the fork moves freely and appears to be in the right position.I'm running the factory master and slave cylinders. When I hit push my clutch it is moving the slave cylinder rod about 2" max. I'd say more around 1" to an 1 and a half. Then inside the trans it's moving the bearing half that. Nothing is binding though and you can start the car without any noises. I've replaced the lower slave a couple times but I've never replaced the upper. It has always worked. Do the upper slaves break down over time? Like could it be pushing half the fluid it needs to be? Any insight appreciated

Re: T56 won't go into gear.

Was the lakewood dialed in?

Is it an LS1 T56 and did you use an extended pilot bearing?

Does it go in gear with engine off?

If it does and you start it in 1st with the pedal down, does the car move?

Dialed in? Idk what you mean by that. It is a ls1 t56 but I bought the tranny installed with a longer input shaft to avoid the extended pilot bearing. Goes smooth into gear with car off and if you start it in first it will move.

Re: T56 won't go into gear.

Start with this common problem with clutch release:

Hopefully you verified pilot engagement depth with that "longer input". The only GM "longer inputs" don't swap into an LS1 F-body T56, so hopefully it is correctly.

As for dialing it in, it needs done and a new Lakewood should have mention of it.
A how-to (I didn't read it yet but the pictures look like he has a clue): http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=23913

AND:
With a Lakewood block plate (in between bellhousing & engine block) plus the bellhousing itself, your overall operational depth of the bellhousing may be deeper than stock. Which means the fork may not be able to push the bearing far enough into the pressure plate fingers.

Fixes if that's it? Longer ballstud. Taller throwout bearing. Removal of the blockplate. Shim of the flywheel (not uncommon for machined flywheels).

You're welcome.

No i am 100% sure on the imput legnth shaft. Well that answers everything starting with me putting my throwout bearing in the wrong spot... Thank you.
