physical look of a stall converter

Is there any way to tell if your converter is stalled or not? I picked one up today for free from a friend and he said its an after marker stalled converter. But it looks the same as the one I have in my car. I'm hesitant on putting it in as I bought a new converter from auto zone when NY motor went in and I dont want to put another stock one in

if it's built off a stock converter, you cannot tell.

obviously if its built off a smaller body, yes.
