well gang- the problem is back. I had put the TA away out of frustration because I could NOT get to the governor gear to inspect it. No darn room under the car and not able to reach the governor cap. Darn GM devils. But I backed the car out and warmed her up and ran around the block reaching 1st-2nd and 3 gear"D". Feeling good-- but wait-- THERES MORE-- But Today its the same old stuff. STUCK in 1st- Stuck in First- Darn it. What is wrong with this 700R Automatic?? Why would it work 2 days ago and NOW it wont get out of 1st. stuck at 8 mph I guess- because the Speedo NOW suddenly does Not work, Is there a connection here? No speedometer and stuck in 1st gear?? please help. john

3 things I learned about this very thing that may be the cause. #1 TV cable damaged/incorrect part/mis adjusted.#2governor gear is busted/gov. has debris sticking it.#3 there is debris sticking the valves in the valve body. you ARE facing a rebuild. but try a can of "seafoam trans tune". it works wonders sometimes

Thanks--- I have a bottle of Lucas Transmission additive - should I try it? I heard bad stuff can happen when using Lucas though ....... Has Trans Medic by GUNK been helpful in these cases..... Anyway- should I first remove some tranny fluid before adding any Trans Additive?? Is the SEAFOAM safe to use???? thanks again.

I put in just half a bottle of SEAFOAM and it W-O-R-K-S. It did the job. I guess that it freed up a sticking 1-2 shift valve. Sooooo Can I expect this good news to last??? Or am I still staring down a Rebuild in the near future?

I got another 650 miles out of mine using the "sea foam trans tune". but it is usually only a temporary fix to a permanent problem
