Salvage Yard 700r Transmission

Recently put 358 into 84 Z28 but didn't get the seat crush I was looking for. Probable cause is that the original 700r trany was replaced before I got the car with a TH350(real butcher job, no speedo gear, torque arm mount keeps torquing off the tailstock) Anyway back to what I was asking. I think the launch would be much improved if I replaced the trany with a 700r due to more favorable 1st gear ratio. So what should I pay at a salvage yard for a 700r????

Engine: L92/LQ4 (both w/4" stroke)
Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
Last one I priced was $650 from a yard w/guarentee. Happened to have come from an Astro van.

I didn't get it. Rebuilt the TH400 instead.

What rear gears do you have? 3.73's and the OD tranny should give you a crush on your seat.

The Gears are 3.23s I was hoping that just replacing the transmission would be enough to improve the seat crush especially since the person that put this th350 in did such a butcher job.

Thanks for the offer on the 700r But I think I will try to find one closer to home. Maybee I could pick up a parts car for less than what the bone yard would charge for a trany.

Would you be willing to wait a few months until I get the parts I need for the 6 speed swap? If so, I'll pull and drain the tranny, pack the tranny, convertor, shifter (I even have the original B&M console megashifter box with instructions), I'll also include the modified automatic console trim plate (I'll need the trim plate with the manual shifter boot). I'll pack it all up in a big box. The car will rarely be driven from now to until I get the six speed so they're wont be barely any miles added to it. After I box everything up, how would you suggest shipping it?
