I have a 1991 firebird 5.0 manual trans. A few weeks ago I was driving on the expressway in 5th gear (which I had been in for about an hour) and all of the sudden something started catching and I had to pull over. I put it in neutral and when I let out the clutch it starts catching and I hear grinding. it drives, but not well, it grinds like a **** when I let the clutch out... im stumped :/

Better describe " catching " ?

In all gears ,in neutral ?

 

catching as in something is grinding and slowing the car down. and ive only drove it in 1st and reverse, cause im scared to do too much, or go too fast... and it does most of the grinding when im in neutral with the clutch out.
