I'm looking for a good Posi carrier for a good price. I thought about welding my rear end, but after a quick google search, i found it wasn't the best solution for what i want to do with my car. Any ideas or suggestions?

It's going to depend on what you want to do with the car. There is no one differential that is going to be best for all situations. There are 2 that I can tell you to avoid at all cost, and that is the Auburn and Governor Lock. The best one will depend on how you want to drive the car.

Light street use? OEM Torsen. If you can't find one, Eaton Detroit TrueTrac.
Heavier (strip) use, Eaton clutch posi.

Well my ultimate plan is for it to be an all around car. Currently my DD, and will stay that way until i swap out engines. I have the stock 305 in it right now, but i've got a 383 lined up to drop in it once she's ready. I'm hoping to run track, street, and strip, though i dont plan on being the best at either of the two race set-ups. I'm just hoping to find something affordable to put in it now

I would suggest saving for a stronger rear end if you plan on putting decent tires on it.Originally Posted by motokid108

If you have the '88 rear end in it then it will have 26 spline axles. You would have to upgrade to the 28 spline axles to use the Torsen. That would be a good way to go. There are usually some on ebay. Just be sure that it's the right series for the gear ratio that you are using.
If you stay with the 26 spline axles (probably not a good idea) then the Eaton Posi or Yukon Dura Grip would work well.

There are a few good after market bolt in rear ends for 3rd gens. Strange makes a 60, 9 inch and a 12 bolt. Moser makes a 9 inch and a 12 bolt. I think Mark Williams makes a 12 bolt. Quick Performance makes a 9 inch. There are probably others.
