700R4 Slipping?

I just picked up a 91 camaro with a l98 and a 700r4 off craigslist and the guy says it has a bad tranny. He said started with not having reverse and now no forward either. Is there something the could cause it other than it just being toast?

Pull the pan, see if there is debris in the fluid but when it's that bad, no.

$670.00 for a rebuild kit from Dana at Probuilt in California.
$800 for a new Vigilante Torque Converter

Rebulid it yourself or spnd $400 for a shop to do it if you do the instal. Around $650 with the removal/install since you supply the parts and you've got a kicking transimssion that will support 600+hp and is fun to drive!

Or you can buy a built transmission tha twill do the same thing for around $2500 and then it still needs to be installed.
