b&m manual shifter **** on 700r4?

Is it possible to put a manual shift **** on a 700r4 shifter? I looked online for pictures to see if the original shifter screws on or not but couldn't tell, I read that there's a clip that holds it on but wasn't sure if it screwed on as well. I got a b&m t handle shifter for free do I figured I would try it if possible; didn't want to risk breaking anything if it's not even possible. Thanks.

There is a C clip on the front of the ****. Pull it out with needle nose pliers and it will pull off. No screwing. Now the issue will be what to depress the plunger with to allow the gears to shift.

Re: b&m manual shifter **** on 700r4?

Ok, thanks for the quick response. Couldn't I just either bypass the switch or give the solenoid constant power? (basically it would think the switch was always pushed in right?)

It's mechanical not electric. Take the **** off, you'll see what I mean. There is a plastic plunger that pushes down and releases the latch. I suppose you could fix it somehow in the depressed position but I dont suggest that. Then the car would never lock into any gear.

IMO, **** can the B&M shifter. It's for a manual, which you haven't got OR rig some way that when you press down on the ball, it depresses the plunger. No clue how you'd accomplish that.

See the white piece coming out of the center of the shifter shaft? That's the piece the pushes down when you push the thumb button.
