Yes I'm doing it. I give up on the 700r4. I got a 5 speed out of an 85 Camaro with an 8 in it.
I need a flywheel and clutch. I have a 350 crate motor with vortec heads. Anything special I should look for?
The peddle assembly is taken apart anyone make a rebuild kit for them? I also need a new switch for it.

 

Make sure you match the flywheel to the crank on the motor - 1 piece RMS OR 2 piece RMS. They have different flywheel bolt patterns.

There isn't much to rebuild on the pedal assembly, other than replacing the plastic bushings and pedal pads. You should be able to find them at your regular parts store, but they may have to order them in.

if buying new i would price everything through Rockauto. not sure if they have a pre-bled hydraulic assembly for us though... You might do better with the sales at Autozone or advance.

Otherwise used, comb through the classifies here, ebay or craigslist.

should I spend a ton of money and get a high dollar clutch? My car rite now has with the 700r4 252rwhp. The motor is a 330hp vortec crate motor so it is no daemon. I can get a replacement clutch and flywheel from Summit for around 300 bucks. Or I can spend 500 on the clutch alone. What makes a clutch good? I am tired of over spending.

 

So far I am very happy with my spec stage 1 clutch. I think it was 225 shipped.

 

Well I have the clutch and I am ready to start. The darn 700r4 lost 3 and 4th again so it is forcing me to start befor I wanted to.
The things that worrie me the most is the Peddles and the switches.

EBay most of it is discontinued.

 

I can find the ones with the half dollar size plug in. I can't find the one fo the T5.

 

I found an adaptor that will work. A pulse generator that screws into the speedo cable spot and has a converter. http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/7587 This is going to be a god send.
