REAL CHEAP 02 Z06 T56 Worth the trouble & $$$?
Hey guys, I came across a crazy deal for a T56 today. the guy is moving away and is selling his 02 Z06 tranny. I offered $300, and he bit. So here is my question. I have a 91 350 L98. I know there is a difference between the LT1 and LS1 Trannys; such as input shaft length. Im wondering if for the price this would be worth the investment. Mind you I already planned on rebuilding whichever t56 I end up with. So I figure regardless Im looking at a: Standard Rebuild, 1pc rms Flywheel, new clutch, the converter box(old car was a 700r4), hydraulic reservoir, and pedal assy(which I already have).
Would it be worth the time and money to Get this T56 for 300, take the necessary steps to retrofit, or am I better off waiting and getting a LT1 Tranny and doing the same?
any input would be appreciated.

You do know the t56 in a z06 is in the back of the car "transaxle" right?
It can be converted but expect to shell out some bucks.

There are a few ways to rebuild it to make it work and fit with the stock torque arm and driveline.
Or if you want to work out a trade for an LT1 T56, I can make that happen too.

Easiest way to "rebuild it" is Sofakingdom's Registered Copyrighted Patented © Trademarked ® EEEzy 2-Step Method:
Step 1: Sell the thing you can't use
Step 2: Buy something you can, with your new cash

Yeah I'm pretty lazy, fundamentally; I find it easier to carry around cash than almost any other commodity. Very high value-to-weight ratio.
Seriously, your Vette trans should sell easily to a Vette owner that needs one, and for more money than a traditionally mounted one will cost, since it seems like most of that crowd has more money than sense to begin with. I'm thinking you potentially can even turn a profit on the whole deal without even getting your hands dirty, as opposed to doing no telling how much work and spending no telling how much money, doing it the "convert" way.

I guess thats a good idea. I didnt think of trying to flip it. I mean it does need a rebuild but its a manual Trans. somebody else should want/need it.
