Car: 83 firebird 500 le
Engine: 350 chevy with 305 heads
Transmission: street/strip 700r4
Axle/Gears: chevy 10 bolt
700r4

Help does anyone know how to adjust the kickdown cable for my 700r4 it mates up to a 350 chev with a holley 650 carb it is a rebuilt trans but is shifting late and/or rough I don't want to use it until it is adjusted right as ive heard that it can ruin the trans any help would be appreciated.

Hey Nat

For the holley carb you need a geometry corrector made by holley or alternatively you can make one http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sum...o/700R4p1.html

The cable is not a kickdown per se. It actually alters the oil pressure in the auto which affects how hard/soft the auto changes and incorrect adjustment or geometry can result in burnt out clutches and a fried auto.

Theres heaps on the internet about this so do some searching. Theres also threads here on third gen about how to adjust the cable once geometry is correct.
