when i go from park to drive there is a noticeable thump and or feeling the car has when i select gears, it is a stock 700R4 and i am not aware of any previous owners installing shift kits or anything like that. i adjusted the Tv cable today and the shifting while i drive is much better in the sense of the timing on shifts and feeling of it. before it was rougher and slower, the case being that the line had more slack on it than it does now. anyways the noise when selecting gears has gone away some but it still makes a thump every once in a while. any thoughts?

 

IMO, rough manual engagement is kind of a characteristic with the 700R4.

I'd check the universal joints for wear and the engine/transmission mounts for wear/breakage.
