th700 speedo gears
Hi!
I'm doing a 2.73 to 3.42 gear swap and was wondering if someone knows what the original speedo gears are in a 1989 camaro rs with 305 engine is? Or is it a way to figure it out without unbolting the end of the tranny?
Thanks for any answers on this!

You don't need to unbolt the end of the tranny, just take out the speedometer piece in the tranny and see what y ou've got. If you are looking just for the "correct" ones for your gear swap, your local transmission shop can get them for you. Just give them the specs you need and they should be able to order them if they don't have them on hand.

Aah it's that easy. I thougt you have to remove the strout to get to it. I'll defenetly check it myself, I don't trust these finnish companies on parts for american cars. Thanks for the info!

Glad to help.
I totally missed that you were from Finland! haha
Also, there were no "standard" gear sets, it all depended on the rear gears as to which drive/driven gear set you got.
If you read through the Sticky's posted at the top there is a whole bunch of info on the drive/driven gears and what to get that should put you on the right track.
