Posi with rear disc brakes 1983 firebird se?

So I just crawled under my car for the first time and saw disc brakes on the rear! After jacking up the rear end and turning the tire the other spun in the same direction, by my understanding that means posi. My question is was this a factory option or did someone swap this in. It's a 305 t5 1983 firebird s/e. I've looked all up and down the site and can't find much information any info would be greatly appreciated

Did you look at the FAQ about 10 bolts sticky?

Yes, it's an option. It would be code G80 on your RPO sticker on the bottom of the console lid or on the back of the spare tire cover.

This usually means that you have a limited slip differential (posi), but not always. Sometimes it means you have a bent housing or someone has been doing too many one wheel burnouts and screwed up the differential.

I appreciate the info, That's got me Alittle worried because the car was hit on the right quarter panel, but it leaves solid 11's (not a one wheel hero) I'll check to see the rpo codes tomorrow morning now that I know where they are.

The gear ratio will also be there. Rear end codes usually start with a G. The gear ratio will follow the G80 code. Read the FAQ about 10 bolts sticky.

Just read that sticky and it had seemed to answer every question I could run into on this rear end. Feel like an idiot for not reading it b4 but I'm new to this whole "inter web" thing
