Need help with rear end comparability

Hey third gen, I bought another 92 trans am and the rear end blew on me, another third gen member is offering to sell me a rear end out of an 88 gta 9 bolt 28 spline I just want to make sure it will fit with no issues because mine is a 10 bolt and 26 spline. Thank you for the help

The Borg Warner 9 bolt is a direct fit for the 10 bolt however nothing else is the same. Internally, it's a completely different diff and replacement parts are not cheap or readily available. Axles, posi, gears etc are not interchangeable with the 10 bolt.

The only thing that might be a problem would be the brakes.


The '92 TA should have had 28 spline axles.

His rear end comes with all new gears inside new axles and all the bearings and new disks and pads and calipers if I swap mine with his all new set up will it work?

Buyer beware!... Like mentioned 9 bolt parts are high dollar and hard to come by. I would need to see ALL paper work where gears, bearings, axles was bought and installed 1st.
