Weird slipping clutch issue.
Weird slipping clutch issue.
Internal slave type.
Drove around fine till one day I pulled into the driveway and went to leave.Drove in fine. After sitting 10 min went to leave and got 15 foot out of the driveway and the clutch was slipping so bad that it wouldn't move.Paddleing the gas peddle got it to barely move under its own power to get it back in the driveway.
Figured the slave mightv'e gotten hung on the imput shaft like an old throwout bearing.
Worked the peddle a few times and held it down a couple times and slid my foot off trying to get it to come loose.
Went to start it and see if that worked and the peddle didn't want to go down far enough to press the NSS.Then with a little more pressure something popped. And I started it.Wouldn't go into any gear and no peddle pressure.
Slave cylinder blew.Put it in gear then started it and the car lunged forward and the brakes wouldn't hold it back.Had to kill the engine. So the clutch seems to be holding.
Changed the internal slave cylinder and put it back together and bled it.The blown slave only had 1/2 to 5/8 inch of travel.New slave had close to 1.5 inches.
Worked fine for a week and now the same issue.Clutch slipping just like it did.
Anyone encountered this before?Any ideas?

Sounds like a possibilty the master isn't set up to allow normal flow out of the master / slave circuit based on incorrect mounting or rod length.
More detail on the blown slave lack of travel would be helpful. Is this after it was disconnected?

After I removed it,the slave would only push down that far.New one was also unhooked and unmounted when I checked it.
All the fluid was gone out of it by the time i removed it so I couldn't tell where it was coming from. But part of the rubber boot had come loose from the base that bolts to the trans. And the fluid ran out a the bottom edge of the bellhousing.
It reminds me of a collapsed brake hose making a caliper stick.
It's like when I was working the peddle,it just kept building pressure and not returning to the resevior till the slave had pushed the pressure plate as far as it could go then blew.

When did the car last work properly? Has anything been replaced, repaired, or changed? Did the boot on the slave appear to have pulled away due to overtravel? If the slave calls for a clearance spec., it may have overtravelled due to unaccomplished shimming.
Re: Weird slipping clutch issue.
Last worked correctly over a week ago and always had.
Nothing replaced, repaired,or changed other than the slave when it blew.
Yes it was pulled away in one area about half inch wide.
The slave didn't call for one that I know of.It has a certain length it can travel and that it until it stops at the end of it's own shaft.Thats the only stop im away of.
No shims on the old slave. So didn't put any on the new one.
To be honest. This is my first rodeo with this type clutch system.
