Stall Converter Size Suggestions Please

Just got done building a 383. Nothing major, 200cc ProMaxx Aluminum heads, ATK roller cam 220/224 @ .528/.536 110 c/l and 112lsa. It says 1500-6500 power band. Weiand stealth with 750dp. Its suppose to be around 445hp/475tq. I have the 700r4 already done. 3.42 gears. What would be a good stall size or do i need one at all? Its pretty much going to be a fun weekend cruiser with some occasional heavy footing. Thanks, scott

Re: Stall Converter Size Suggestions Please

2400 stall would be perfect for that one IMHO.

As far as trans cool, Plate style is much better than tube.fin type. Run the biggest one you can fit and afford. Something like the B&M super cooler line of coolers.

I say higher, like 3000-3400 for the 3.42 gears.

Re: Stall Converter Size Suggestions Please

Thanks guys. greatly appreciate it. Does the higher stall speeds mess with the OD lock up?

I second this. I have a 2800 that I just installed in my car with a 355 and wow...talk about a difference. Also, pay the $$ for a good converter like Vigilante, Edge, Circle D, ATI etc. and stay away from TCI and B&M.
