tranny questions
I want to put a shift kit in my 700R4 ,is it easy to do? Also I am thinking about the Corvette servo , another site has step by step instructions,it looks fairly easy. How much tranny fluid will I need to put back in when I am done?,is the B&M trick shift fluid any good? Also wich is the best shift kit?Oh yeah, one more thing,if I put the part on that allows the trans to shift into O.D. at WOT,will I lose the ability to shift into passing gear from 4th? I almost forgot one, does anyone know the stall speed on the stock converter?Any info or opinions will help.THANX
First off, there is only one Shift Kit and that is TransGo. Period. It is somewhat complicated and to be honest the instructions leave a little to be desired. You will still have a 4-3 downshift at least at lower speeds with the GM 3-4 Valve. With the replacement throttle plunger there is no telling what you will get.

The stall speed varies depending on what car/engine/model/
options/and year you have. But ranges in V8 Firebirds for about 1300 to 2100 rpm.
You can determine the stall speed of your car with a simple road test.
In *Drive*, accelorate slowly from a stop until the car shifts to second gear. Let off the gas. Now quickly floor the gas pedal and and brake pedal, together, and observe the tach. It will jump to a certain rpm and then downshift to 1st. This rpm before downshift is your stall speed. If the tires spin, or the trans is slipping, the test is invalid, so find a road to test on with good bite.
Don't keep repeating this test as it heats up the trans a lot.
