anyone have a picture of this or a good description of where it is? i have a pretty good idea but i want to be certain, i need to get it off so i can take the draing plug out of the T.Q. to get the fluid out of it for a fluid change.

 

There is no drain plug on the Torque Converter. To drain the oil you have to drop the bottom pan. Easy but can get messy.

oh, i was going by what someone at this site said. maybe i missunderstood him (vader).

 

Dropping the pan will get rid of SOME of the old fluid, but not the fluid that remains in the converter. I'm not sure there's even a way to directly drain the converter on a GM trans (some ford trannies do have a drain plug int he converter). What I do is drain and clean the pan, change the filter, and install a drain plug in the pan. Once you fill it back up and put a few hundred miles on it, drain out the pan (w/o removing it of course) and re-fill the trans. I'll do this a few times until the color of the fluid in the pan returns to the color of new fluid!

 

There isn't a drain plug on the convertor. Just drop the pan, change the filter, and don't worry about the rest of the fluid in the trans. If you really want something to do get a can of cooler flush from the parts store, disconnect the line from the side of the tranny and flush the cooler.
