Break in used gears?
I put a set of good used 3.73s and both new pinion bearings in my 85 Camaro to get it back going after the teeth sheered off the pinion last week.
Do I need to break in the used gears?
Do I need to break in the used gears?
Re: Break in used gears?
Probably not. The reason that new gears need a break in period is because of the somewhat rough surface. After they have been run for a while the surface gets smooth. Used gears already have a smooth surface, so a break in period is probably not required. It's not going to hurt to do a break in on them.
