Buying for parts
Buying for parts
So I crashed my 85 Firebird last week, the damage amounted to a few cosmetics on the left panels, a busted right front fender, driver side door, front panel, bumper, hood, the fan grinds on something now, and a broken radiator bracket. (It looks like, you can barely see under the hood, as it's jammed).
The reason I'm posting here is because there's a guy nearby selling his 84 for $750 but it has a "slipping" Tranny and needs a new master cylinder.
I was wondering what you guys thought the most pragmatic option was

Re: Buying for parts
What is your insurance company doing or do you not have insurance?
Parts cars are cheap & easy to come by - they are invaluable for their obvious parts but even more so for the correct fasteners, hoses, wires, clips, brackets....etc.. Buy that parts car or another 85 and use it all - or swap your stuff into his.
BTW, welcome to the board - post a pic of the car!

Re: Buying for parts
Sometimes, the car worth more complete should be rebuilt.
Secondary to that, the least work (85 trans. & master cylinder into the 84) is the way to proceed.
You're awfully vague with descriptions & lacking pictures.
