A little old but in this thread you have two respected 700r4/4l60e builders responding to problem areas. Dana from Probuilt and Frank from Cpt.

I just remembered you have a transbrake. Here is a quote from RPM transmissions on that in regards to an output shaft. Just an FYI.

Its a great tranny and I hope it holds up buikt right they do. But since your serious about using this tranny Id very seriously consider an output shaft. Take a look at those pics in that link. If that shaft snaps goodby tranny. On a transbrake the drive line takes a good hit. Weakest link will show.

The "only" thing that a transbrake is good for is consistency, otherwise it is very hard on the gear train. Your best 60 foot times usually come from leaving at an 1,800 rpm - 2,400 rpm stall with a 8" - 10" diameter torque converter. This way of leaving is much easier on the gear train. Without using the transbrake, cryoing the output shaft has done very well at holding up and is apx. 1/10th - 1/8th the cost of a billet output shaft.

at this point another $500/600 is a drop in the bucket.
I understand about preload on the drive train..as I always liked to footbrake the car on take off and now I want to try a trans brake.
and the bump box as a unit

Re: new hard parts for a better 700R4 $2000+

I know of two places that do. One is in production, the other, idk when there making another run.None stocked right now. That govenor gear on the shaft is the problem, it hard to machine correctly. Im waiting for one. Maybe a few months out. I can wait a little bit. Id move up to a 4l60, but Id have to sell my Holley Hp and get a Dominator just to control the trans. Whats your builder say?

Re: new hard parts for a better 700R4 $2000+

There is just one other place that is making them. There eta is a few months out. I may just upgrade to a 4l60E. Should just do a 4l80e and be done with it. But I can forward you the number and person to speak to if you like. They make all the shafts and other stuff for FLT transmissions. They will be available, the timeframe depends on the manufacturing and process of that govenor gear on that shaft. From what I was told, it is the difficult part of manufacturing that shaft.

Did you check out that behind bars racing aluminum gas tank? Are you refering to that one? I posted it up a while back in the forums. I will pm you the info. Here is a link to the bbr tank. I may upgrade as well.

http://www.behindbarsracecars.com/Aluminum-Camaro-tank-intank-pump-p/bbrccpit.htm

Seems like a nice piece and option hp pump systems. I have a fuel labs filter on my car and they are very , very well made. Quality is very high

If you are going to install a "trans brake", the governor in most cases is disabled or locked out. You then could use the billet 4L60E output shaft.

Update..
According to TCI who manufactures my valve body trans brake.. The governor is not used I can lock it out.. & I can in fact use a billet 4l60e output shaft.. thank you pro built automatics.. For that little insight. heads up.. my new TCI trans brake valve body was shipped out yesterday.. evidently there's a few other gentlemen getting theres the same time I'm getting mine.. Technology is great..

You can drill the hole in the output shaft, or since it is an interference fit, you could possibly use Loctite on it.

this is a 700R4. with better hard parts.... only a few builders are offering a hi hp 700R4. and they don't seem to offer all the best hard parts made today... just saw a add for one on ebay offering the TCI trasbrake a week before they had them for sale..LOL
guess $3000+ is a bit much...but I will see..
