Eaton true trac help
Hi folks I have what should be an easy question. Assuming carrier series, axle spline and gearset is the same, will a g body 10 bolt 7.5" eaton posi fit an 84 f body 10 bolt? Is the only difference the torque arm provisions between the housings but they use the same guts? Thanks in advance.
Re: Eaton true trac help
Yes, internally they are the same. The axle length will be different, but the rest is the same.
Just wondering, is this an after market differential? The G body, or any 7.5 GM rear end, never came with the Eaton Posi or Eaton Truetrac. The only limited slip differentials ever installed in the 7.5 were the Auburn, Eaton Governor Lock and in the later years the Torsen.

Your axle should be 26 spline, so long as the unit is also 26 you should be good. Also be sure its the right carrier series for your gear ratio

Re: Eaton true trac help
Every G-body 7.5 / 7.625 10 bolt was 26 spline originally.
The only way it's not 26 spline is if someone swapped axles from a 442 / Turbo Buick and a 28 spline carrier in. Not common, but I know of a few.
