700r4 Help. (TPI to Carb Swap / Shift Issues)

So last summer I fell victim to 80's ECM and swapped the TPI out for a carb.

(car is an 1987 Camaro IrocZ 350 with a 700r4)

Now, car shifted fine with the TPi, I had taken it up to 100 with ease now afterwards I have a hard time getting it to 50. The shifts are jerky and slow at best. I've adjusted the TV cable and tried numerous adapters for the TV cable to no better quality.

At this point I've even taken it to Aamco (Giant regret) and they "Fixed" the issue to no better quality.

Any Suggestions on what could be the issue here? Assuming its with the TV cable but possibly an issue with lock up or similar.

(Pondered the thought of switching to a Turbo350 but not sure what I will need for that)

Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

I can't offer any help. I'm having an issue with my carb swap as well. I had a tpi 305, switched to the carb 350 and now when its warmed up I can't shift into reverse or drive without it dying and needing a jump. I wonder why the struggle for carb on a 700r4?

It idles fine most of the time. Sometimes the rpm will go up and down a bit. It idles at 500 rpm. I've tried to rotate the distributor cap a bit, but my rpms haven't increased.

Idle seems low to me (maybe someone else will chime in) what i assume is happening is you switch to reverse and it drops more since the load on the engine and it stalls.

If you haven't let it idle long enough Alt isn't charging battery hence needing a jump.
