700R4 "jerks" into reverse gear.

This has been a "problem" ever since I bought the car 5 years ago.

I've posted this same question about a year or two ago on this board, but I didn't get any specific replies on exactly how to diagnois/fix the problem.
Every time I select reverse gear, the car lurches or jerks slighty when shifting into that gear. All other gears shift fine when manually selected except for this one.

I'm thinking that it might be the reverse gear boost-valve sticking in the valve body bore due to some reason. Mind you, I'm just guessing here and have absolutely NO transmission repair experience under my belt. However, I'm always willing to learn new things.

Thanks.

A harsh reverse engagement normally means that the Reverse Input Clutch is engaging before the Low/Reverse Clutch, which gets everything spinning and then it comes to a screaching hault. If the Reverse Boost Valve stuck you would also have a problem with boost in the Forward ranges since the TV Boost Valve moves the Int/Rev Boost valve to affect the PR Valve. Now I suppose you could also have too large of a Int/Rev Boost valve but if the L/R Clutch comes on first it should not really be a problem.

That all being said then if it is this timing problem you will be getting into the tranny to fix it.
