Clutch slave push rod missing?
Hello!
So this may be a very simple issue, however I've never dealt with the hydraulic clutch system before. I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I start on the hydraulic conversion.
I got the master/slave system the other day and the slave cylinder has no push rod in it, which I was aware of when ordering it, but I figured I'd see what I could do about it once I got it. So is the push rod something I can replace without much of a hassle, or is it worth buying a new slave entirely? If I can just put a new push rod in, I'd appreciate a breakdown of how to do that! I'd also like to know where to grab a push rod specifically for this cylinder.

That's the picture from the listing. I won't be home for a few days to look at the cylinder, so I can't describe much about it other than how it looks there.
Thanks!!

Not any good without a push rod. Never seen one sold separate.
There's supposed to be a boot/seal on it too. (which of course is also missing and renders the whole thing GARBAGE)
Sounds like you should get one that's fully assembled. And next time, ask BEFORE you waste your money on somebody's eff-ed up stuff instead of AFTER.

Haha, thanks for the info!
The reason for buying it o na whim was it was the pedals and hydraulics together for basically the price of just the pedals which is really what I needed, the hydraulics were just a nice bonus luckily. I'll be grabbing a new slave and even if the master is bad I'll still be in a good position.
Thanks again!

Yup, at that point, not too hard to just swap a new slave on there. (they come from the store w a push rod, and a funky nylon tie-wrap looking arrangement to keep it from coming apart) It's only around $30 or some such, not too $$$.

Advance auto parts still sells the metal body slave fairly cheap. I think I ordered it online using the code TRT30 and got 30% off then pick up in store. You can reuse the line if it is still in good shape. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/c...m=clutch+slave

Re: Clutch slave push rod missing?
As long as the seal on the that slave is good...... you might still get some use from it. Install / swapping a boot and rod on the slave should take about 5 seconds.
I'd stick the slave you've got there into a garage drawer as a back-up. It's not all that uncommon to find the rod bent causing the clutch not to engage properly. I say "not that uncommon" because I've owned less than a dozen T5 cars and have had 2-3 bent rods. ( This one is from a T56 )
