Torque arm seems to long

I am recently new to this site. I have an '84 z28 camaro i recently picked up. It has a 5spd transmission and the torque arm bushing is shot. I ordered a new one and it is on the way. the only thing is that the 2 holes on the end of the torque arm stick out past the bushing area and is cutting into the speedo cable. It just seems like its either to long or my diff needs to move back. I am just wondering if this is normal or if something is clearly wrong? Thanks!
