hey guys, i had a quick question. i'm sure you guys have seen my posts about my LSD not working anymore, i just came across a free carrier from a 4th gen t/a. I was wondering if this would work in my 87 T/A. the guy says it had 4.56 gears (i have 3.73's) and it was a 10 bolt rear, says it just needs spider gears. any help would be much appreciated. thanks guys!

 

Your '87 will have 26 spline axles and all of the 4th gens had 28 spline axles. Unless you upgrade your axles it won't work. Also, if it's a Auburn then it's not worth the trouble to put it in even if it is free.

He's going to give me the whole rear from his 97 Trans am. It's 2" wider on each end than mine so I'll probably try to sell it and get a 3rd Gen rear with disk brakes and redo it over the winter. Thanks guys
