700 r4 governor tuning
I recently installed a moser 12 bolt with a 4.30 gear. problem I am having is trans shifting too soon. I have the B&M ratchet shifter in the car. When i make a pass I manually shift the car. 1/2 shift seems ok however the 2/3 shift comes early... even with the shifter still in 2nd the trans up-shifts anyway ( prob around 6300/6500 rpm) I need to shift closer to 7000. trying to get an idea of what weights and springs for the governor to use. Trans is fresh with a TCI 10"3800 super street fighter converter. I am running a 275/60/15 drag radial. Thanks for any help.

Whatever weights are in it now, you need slightly lighter ones.
Look at the ones that are in it, and the others you have on hand, and pick a lighter one to replace a heavier one that's in it now.
If you don't have any lighter ones, drill a hole in one of the ones you DO have.
Not too complicated really... typical "tuning" thing. Try something. Better/worse? Better: so some more of it. Worse: go back where you were, plus some more. Better/worse? ... until no further improvement can be made. (i.e. it's just where you want it)
We out here can't any more tell you what weights to use, than we can tell you what the right jets are for your carb. Same deal. Just gotta find out what the car wants.
