gear ratio swap
Sirs,
I need to find someone here who would be willing to do a gear ratio swap on my 86 firebird s/e 5.0l soon. I did get an offer from someone on this forum in Baltimore in D.C. I got 2.77/3.08s in the 86 stock, and I want to got to 3.42s, and I only need to get an installation kit from Drivetrain.com.

Re: gear ratio swap
It would be helpful to know where you are. It would also be helpful to know which rear end you have. It could be the 7.5 10 bolt or the Borg Warner 9 bolt.
If you want a cheap kit that is still worth having (assuming that you have the 10 bolt)then get the USA Standard kit from Quick Performance or Summit.

Re: gear ratio swap
I'm not able to help you much due to your location, but I can give some advice. There are 3 installation kits that I can recommend, Tom's Differentials, Yukon and USA Standard. All of the others that I have used are junk. I have not used one from Drivetrain.com, but I have used just about every other one that is made and other than the 3 that I listed they are all junk.
Do you have a set of gears yet? If you do, what brand are they?
