Noises
I have put in a new torque arm, relocation bracket and new trans mount on my 1986 trans am. I have a t-5 manual. When I accelerate and let off the gas I hear a clunking noise. The u-joints are good and have had the rear end checked out. Any Idea's. I have also non adjustable rear control arms.

Re: Noises
IDK if its any help but, under acceleration the torque arm will be trying to push up. letting off the gas, (when you say your hearing a clunk), the torque arm would be trying to move downward.
might help isolate the problem some?

Re: Noises
To Joe's point: what torque arm did you use? What crossmember?
383 has good suggestions, but it sounds like you've already covered those. No harm in going back and double-checking though.

Re: Noises
Ditto what these guys are saying, anything with the torque arm/torque arm mount could do that for a variety of reasons including being loose, hitting the trans tunnel/trans, the adjuster being loose, if it's adjustable.

Torque arm is tight. That was what i thought also. Is there any way slop in the tranny could cause this? (t-5)
