Rear end gears
Rear end gears
Hey guys,
So i got an '82 Firebird S/E with a 305 and a 3 speed auto. I was wondering what kind of rear end gears i could put in it that would give me some more lower end (ya know for them big smokey burnouts and such) while still keeping the car able to keep up on highway speeds. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Re: Rear end gears
3.23-3.42 are perfect if you want a better launch but don't want to sacrifice too much of your highway driving

Re: Rear end gears installation kit
Sirs,
Can anyone recommend an installation kit for my 1986 Pontiac Firebird s/e with a 305 LG4? I just got a set of OEM 3.42 rear end ,and found an OEM used Eaton posi so I'm looking to redo the 86 OEM rear now (It came 2.77/3.08 gearing). I went on the Summit Racing website and couldn't find an installation kit for it. Thanks guys.
