Torque Conv dust cover thread size?
Does anyone know the thread size for the bolts that attach the TC dust cover?

Converter covers belong in the trash. Letting the converter run cooler will double transmission life. I haven't run a cover in 25 years, and I never will.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking of that, but was worried that grime and dirt would work their way into a bad place and cause problems.

Re: Torque Conv dust cover thread size?
I just installed a Pro-Built 700R4 trans and an Edge Racing converter and left the cover off. Car is driven in fair/goo weather only so I don't expect grime to get up in there. It will run colder too as airflow will help cool it

run a trany cooler..large one. if ya want to keep the trany cool.. under 130deg.
install the dust cover to keep things out/off the converter. a lot of guys don't put them back on...but ya will keep the road grime off the converter and keeps the seal lips lasting longer as ya don't have the grime build up on it.and the flexplate..
been racing for almost 35 years it dose help...I forget the bolt size..its the same size as the bolt that holds the kickdown in place 10x28?x
also don't add a deep pan..instead. add a largo cooler with 3/8 tranny lines this will add almost 2 qts and save the pan hand down blues.

IIRC The cover bolts are almost like a woodscrew or self tapping screw thread pitch.
Haven't run the cover for the life of the car(25yrs or so) 240,000k miles and a lot of those were daily driver (some winter) and no issues. However, if you want to install one.... SLP used to make a cover that was vented and could be a good idea...

Even with the cooler, it'll run even cooler without the cover.
That seal isn't difficult to replace, and if it needs a $5 seal every 100K miles, fine. I change torque converters more often than that, trying different stalls with different engine combos.

Re: Torque Conv dust cover thread size?
some guys like to run them.. some don't..
some guys don't mined the dust and crap..some do..

some guys don't put 5.000 miles on parts before removing and checking them out...

but remember.. do what ya want..its your car..if ya want it to stand out from the rest,,,then go ahead.
your car is part of you...and what every one can see..

after all whats a little dirt...right...
