Limited Slip questions

Anyone know if Detroit Truetrac #363-912A317 would fit in a 1983 rear end with 373s? If so would it just be a matter of bolting the ring gear onto the posi unit and reinstalling? or would i have to shim and set lash etc..

Thanks

Re: Limited Slip questions

It will fit in the housing but wont fit on the factory axles for 1983 because they are 26 spline. You will need a bearing / install kit and you will have to setup everything as you would a brand new rear assembly

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/d...a319/overview/ This is the one that you need. You will not have to set the pinion depth, but you will have to set the backlash and bearing preload. This will require shims, a dial indicator and a micrometer.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/yga-55001/overview/ This is the shim set that you will need. You will also need bearings.
http://nastyz28.com/forum/threads/change-to-posi.19773/ This is how to do it. This is the same for the 7.5.
