Hey guys I'm new to the forum and new to the 700r4. When the trans warms up it will not shift out of first but when it is cold it can hit all the gears perfect with no slip. Shut it off let it cool and can go through gears again but warms up and same thing. Been trying to look at forums and get to the bottom of it. Recently had it installed, worked good the first few months. Few miles are on it and not been driven hard, tv cable has been set to factory and tried other positions after that. Wondering if it would be stuck throttle body or governor acting up? Any suggestions or solutions would be great thanks!

 

Is the trans a stock replacement or has it been modified?

 

It is a stock replacement. Only acts like that when it gets warm, the times before it's been working great, just happened lately.

 

Check governor, I had a similar issue when I replaced my trans and it ended up that the gov didn't have any teeth on it.

 

Good to know thanks! I have my old governor out of the old transmission could try that one. Called around to a few transmission shops some wanted to do full rebuild after it just had one, found a few that want to clean up valve body and put in shift kit for throttle valve just to be sure and check out the governor while their at it.
