Hello everyone, I would like your opinions please. I am undecided as to whether I should stay with my current 700R4 or get into a six speed manual from a fourth gen? Would it be worth the extra hassle? Would this work well with my current set-up? I realize I have a very restrictive factory intake which I plan to change soon. Thank you in advance!!

 

I did this exact swap last season, dumped my TH700 and went to a T56 from a '95 Trans Am. It was worth the small amount of pain cutting the shifter hole in the trans tunnel and the clutch cylinder holes in the firewall. Other than these mods, it's a bolt-on modification.

Tools to do the sheetmetal cutting were a sawzall for the trans tunnel, and a standard drill and Sears metal holesaw bit for the clutch cyl hole on the firewall.

My specs are on the link in my sig if you want to compare setups, the only change I'm contemplating is going from current 3.42 gears to 3.73.
