700r4 to 4l60e conversion, parts compatability list anywhere?
I've been searching and haven't found anything definitive so figured i'd post here. My low(ish) mileage 1988 700r4 seems to have puked up the 3-4 clutch pack as my fluid looks like pudding and it won't shift right anymore. with only 40-50k on it most things should be in good shape once cleaned.
sludge
not pretty
The question: what parts are compatible with a 4l60e in the 1999 to 2004 year range? I had my 700r4 rebuilt with a bunch of upgraded parts (2-3 and 4th servos, stalled converter, shift kit, etc) and would like to move them over if its possible. The cheap bastard in me just hates the thought of leaving all those good parts in the old transmission, and if could use them it would save me money and improve the function of the replacement.
Re: 700r4 to 4l60e conversion, parts compatability list anywhere?
The converter will work if the controller, pump, and valve(s) are not PWM. And it is probably worth cutting open to inspect after the incident. If you're going LS, plan on using the short crank 4L80E spacer, flexplate and bolts.
