Ok so the information i find is all over the place. I have a transmission from an 86 camaro. It has two red gears. I am going to be installing aftermarket auto-meter gauges. Since the speedometer is programmable to signals. I need to know what sensor i need for the trans mission. I have a broken sensor no numbers on it its all cracked up. Can i install the standard sc12 sensor into my tail housing and then program the speedo? I am so confused as to what i need to go electric signal. Some say you need a relector ring some say you dont. then This part is listed for 90-93 but i find nothing for pre 90.

Is reading for another 1988 GTA owner who needed a VSS.

Because your car, stock has a VSS which feeds a buffer box device, which then feeds different signals to cruise, speedo, and ECM, you should use a VSS at the trans, which will feed the car, not just the speedo.
