700r4 slipping and stalling on interstate
700r4 slipping and stalling on interstate
So I have an 87 Lt with the e4me carb. all stock. the car only has 42,000 original miles. I think I'm have an issue with my transmission. every time I get on the interstate as I'm going up hill it starts to slip and the engine will start to surge and eventually stalls out. I know it's not a fuel or carb issue as I have replaced the following
plugs, wires, cap, rotor, knock sensor, o2 sensor, erg valve, all vacuum hoses, and have a new remand carb,
the gauges fuse blew out about a week ago and I believe it also controls the T.C.C solenoid. I replaced it and it seemed fine around town but I can barely get on the interstate. could it be the solenoid or do I have a bigger issue?

If the TCC wiring melts on exhaust, I believe it blows that fuse, yes.
Stalling out isn't a good sign that the trans. is bad. Is the engine running strong at that point, or struggling?

I agree. Surging and stalling is not what you see if the trans slips. The engine will rev high and the car won't move if the trans slips. It will not cause the engine to stall.
