Axle question

I have an axle question. If you checked my post up you know I had a bent axle and changed it out and everything good. So the other wheel had a very minor slight wobble barely noticeable but I think it might be bent too. I don't wanna hit the junkyard again since I have two axles from my old open diff. Can I use those axles on my new torsen ls1 diff? My old rear was a 92 open diff with drums. I'm sure they are 28 spline as well but not sure about length as the fourth gen diffs are wider.

Re: Axle question

3rd gen axles will not fit a 4th gen rear end.

Re: Axle question

Did anybody ever mention anything about "buy new instead of used" in any of your threads?

This is just one of the reasons why. In addition to, the growling noise you get to enjoy mile after mile from imperfect bearing race surfaces.

But yeah, BGH is right, a 3rd gen axle is about 1-5/8" too short to work in a 4th gen housing. Right other than that; right splines, right bearings, right C-clip grooves, right ... kinda like, EXACTLY the same, except TOTALLY different. Gotta get the parts that fit.

Re: Axle question

Yeah I just cant afford to drop that much cash on new axles at the moment. Az has em for over 200 $ a pop so yeah I'm a junkyard rat. BUT I just checked hawks thirdgen and they have em for 75 which is cheap so I might consider getting new ones.
