Car: 1985 camaro Z28

Engine: 305 5.0 V8 carburated

Transmission: 700r4

So here is my issue. My 700r4 will not shift automatically. Here is what it does:

shift into reverse-good
Shift into overdrive- feel it shift but doesn’t move.

same as above with 3 and 2.

shift into 1st, get a slightly harder engagement and it moves fine.


Now, if I drive starting in 1st.... I have to get up to atleast 2500rpms before I can move the shifter forward a click and it’ll shift. Same through all gears.


So all of my gears are there but they will not work on their own.

I checked the governor and it was sticky but I took care of that.

I dropped the valve body and found a couple sticky valves but I cleaned it up and freed them up.


All this and still no change. Tv cable is correct and adjusted correctly.

Please help!!!

I’ve done so much research and can not find any help.
