Dana 44 and LS1 (rear) brakes

I have a Dana 44, and want to swap out the iron (told to be) 1LE brakes, for LS1 brakes. I've swapped LS1 brakes onto the 10-bolt with no problem. All the information I've seen suggests putting the LS1 brakes on a Dana 44 will work just as well.

Does anyone have experience with a Dana 44 and LS1 brakes?

Obviously the bearing get destroyed while swapping the backing plates. Any gotchas to watch for?

TIA,
MoJoe

I think the best way to go about the brakes would be sell me that Dana 44, and buy a 9" or Dana 60!
