clutch adjustment on '82 camaro?

Is the clutch adjustable on the 1982 Z28 Camaro with a 4 speed? In order to shift lately if you are lucky you have to have the pedal totally on the floor. Tried lubricating the linkage. When the car is not running shifting in all gears is a breeze. Start the car and total difficulty getting into gear.

Yes.

Adjust the linkage until the pedal is as high as it will go, which is to say, take out ALL the play, as in, the pedal is all the way mashed up against the cruise control switch; then let it back down until there's around ½ - ¾" of free play in the pedal. Should be around 1/8" or less at the linkage.

Then if it's still hard to shift, you have a clutch problem; probably the pilot bushing/bearing.

Adjustment of the rod that goes from z-bar to fork is possible.

You should also thoroughly look over all parts while someone moves the pedal. The zig-zag main tube shape of the z-bar, and the nature of the parts is that some crack, and need welded.
