Founders Performance Newest Bolt-In Rear Coil Over Kit
1982-2002 F-Body Rear Coil Over Kit, Double Adjustable Shocks, Bolt in No Welding
Only $574.65 With Free Spanner Wrench & Thrust Bearings
Founders Performance coil over kit allows, spring rate, full ride height and damping adjustability for your 1982-2000 F-Body Camaro and Firebird. The upper mount is a direct bolt-in and requires no cutting, welding or fabrication utilizing a 2-1/2 coil over spring. The lower bracket bolts in using the standard shock mounting location and provides an additional location hole for added structural rigidity. Drilling a 3/8 hole on each side is necessary and no welding or tapping is required. The included Viking shock is 19-way adjustable in both compression and rebound. The 2-1/2 coil over springs are available in 14 110lb for drag racing, 14 125lb for street performance and 12 150lb for track and timed events. Manufactured at our facility in San Luis Obispo California. Spanner wrench and thrust bearings are included.
*Note: If you have installed larger sway bars, changed rear ends or made other signifigant rear chassis modifications some adjustments may be required for proper fitment.
Spanner wrench is used to adjust vehicle height without removing the shock, the wrench is necessary to make height adjustments. The thrust bearings are designed to be placed between the spring and the spring seat attached to the shock, providing easy adjustment without binding or damaging the spanner wrench and/or shock adjuster ring.

How much travel does the shock have at a stock and lowered ride height? These numbers are similar to another kit I have dealt with before that would bottom out unless the lower mount was relocated lower than the stock mounting hole.

Exactamundo!
That is a 16" range - stock ride height. You can adjust coil-overs, but two inches will bottom out. A 3/4" adjustment would be safe.
My Ridetech HQ6110's are MONOTUBE (mucho gusto, ) with a 14" range (allows for 2" lowered) with 11.34" collapsed and 16.5" extended.
Detroit Speed has Jri at 14" range, 12" collapsed, and 17" extended which are specifically made for a 2" drop for 3rd Gens, of course they're monotube.
For handling, you want a low-speed damping adjustment and a shock that responds immediately to chassis movement (the better, the more expensive). A twin tube (Koni/KYB/Tokico/Tein/GAZ) will always lag behind a monotube (Bilstein, Penske) due to less displaced volume.
For overall vehicle control, mid and high-speed damping is crucial. This is where monotubes shine. They dont generate the high internal pressures that twin tubes have to for the same force. Monotubes dissipate heat better and stay more consistent mile after mile than twin tubes.

If you want to lower your car that much we can supply them with 11.57" compressed and 17.32" extended for a 5.75" stroke. You would need to contact us directly to order that package.
