Dana 44 axle removal
I just got a Dana for my camaro and I went to pull the axles, I got all the backing plates off, retaining plates off, and everything ready. I put my slide hammer on the stud and give it some serious pull and it doesn't seem to want to move at all. I'm thinking about hitting it with some heat from an oxy acetylene torch and giving it some hits with the slide, but am I missing anything???

It's probably in there fairly decent. I'd keep at it with the slide hammer.

sometimes they're stuck good if had to use a hammer on backside of axle to persuade them out there's no C-clips so you wont damage anything, sometime I've had to go though backing plate with a metal shaft that can be struck

Well.. the ol' BFH mod and a little heat from the torch and i got one side out. Going to try the other side tomorrow. I got it 203 degrees with my temp gun so I don't think I got it hot enough to hurt anything. I'm just glad one is out.

Got it! Now it's time to get the bearings off the axles so I can throw away the old brake parts, and get started cleaning the housing and prepping for paint.
