700R4 strange shift point

Well this is the third time that this thing has done this. well i am at a stand still and then accelerate lightly and then punch it(going 15-20MPH). well it starts to peel out and then the engine rpm's get to about 3500 rpm and it shifts in second. i then have to drop it into 1 to get up and go. it only does it in the (1-2 shift). all other shifts "normal". the thing that is funny that it only started to do this lately. fresh filter/fluid correct level. TV Cable checked and adjusted per transfixleo's instructions. here i am trying to get on the freeway and the damn thing is shifting too early. well guys maybe one of you tranny guru's can help me out here. 88' 700R4 350 TPI thanks for any help.

Sounds like you need to readjust your TV cable, look at similar posts and follow transfixleo's method of doing it.
edit: guess I should finish reading before I reply.

I still think it's out of whack.

If you are saying that this is an intermittant problem and not just that you don't like when it shifts at a certain throttle then I suspect that the dreaded sticking Throttle Valve is biting you. You do NOT want to ignore this because it will cost you your tranny. The only sure fix I know is the TransGo SHift Kit or Reprogramming Kit.

yes transfixleo that is what i am saying. it only has done this about three times and doesn't do it all the time. can the the sticking valve be "unstuck" (at least for the time being) or must the tranny have the transgo reporgramming kit installed. if so the tranny and engine will be coming out in about 7,000 miles. so i could take a look at it and see what needs to be done to it. well thnaks for your help guys...

Update: the problem exists in overdrive only. this time i put in drive and it shifted into 2nd as it should. this is a little weird.
