Limited slip differential

Hey y’all so while I’m building my camaro I know that it has a open differential but I want to put a limited slip on it because I’ll be runnin 350 horsepower and want to make sure the power gets put to the floor evenly. It is a 84 camaro I’m building a 305 for it and it is a automatic. I want to keep the ratio the same though. Any suggestions?

Re: Limited slip differential

First you need to know what the gear ratio is. Your car should have the 7.5 GM rear end, which has 26 spline axles and the carrier breaks are between 3.23 and 3.08. You will need either a 2 series or a 3 series differential, depending on what gear ratio you have. If you have 3 series gears, which are from 3.23 to 4.56, then it's not a big deal and you have several choices. If you have 2 series gears, from 3.08 to 2.41, then you will need a 2 series and your choices are very limited.

An upgrade to 28 spline axles would be very wise in your case, and now would be the time to do it.
